Value in Residential Re-Roofing

Metal Roofing recently featured a residential metal roofing contractor - Strickland Roofing - in its August issue. And as stated in the featured article - "Everybody likes a deal and Neal Strickland has one for his re-roofing customers." That of course being - installing a Fabral metal roof!

The article continues with, "Strickland formed Strickland Roofing of San Mateo, Fla., in 1982. His target market was — and remains — residential re-roofing. The major change is that now he’s doing it with metal roofing as opposed to asphalt shingles. His sons, Austin and Morgan, each run an efficient crew. Those two crews accounted for 17 residential re-roofing projects in a two-week span in June.

Extreme Makeover

05/13/09

East Carolina Metal Roofing recently donated their time and expertise for a special project – the construction of a much needed dream house for a decorated veteran of Operation Desert Storm and his family, which was featured on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the TV show that forever changes the lives of deserving families every week.

For this North Carolina project – known as the Cooper Family Episode, ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition partnered with Edenton Builders. Edenton Builders then turned to the best installers and contractors in their area and asked them to be a part of their team. They quickly looked to East Carolina Metal Roofing for this unique project – a project that would require 17 hour work days and lots of sweat and determination. Greg LaPierre, owner of East Carolina Metal Roofing, commented that once they were asked to participate there really was no option; they knew they had to be involved no matter what it took. LaPierre had been told that the father of the family in need had been a combat medic and was currently an advocate for the welfare of others. “My family has very strong military ties… so it really just made sense for us to join the effort.”

“Metal roofing was the perfect choice for this project,” said LaPierre. “Not only is metal roofing designed to withstand the high winds of North Carolina and extremely efficient but it looks great. The Classic Green Kynar color finish was the perfect complement to the rustic log cabin design.” Regarding installation, each metal panel on the house was rollformed on the jobsite and was on average about 38’ long. In the end, we ended up using about 70 squares of metal. The roof was literally completed right before those famous words, move that bus, were called out. “It was an exhilarating project and one we are very proud to have been a part of,” LaPierre states. By joining forces with East Carolina Metal Roofing, NB Handy and Fabral were honored to be a small part of the event by helping to provide the metal for the roof application.

For the past ten years, Fabral has held the Project of the Year contest to recognize excellent projects in the post frame, light commercial and residential markets. Finalists in each category were displayed at Fabral’s booth at the 2009 NFBA Frame Building Expo and were voted on by show attendees.

The categories and winners for the 2009 Project of the Year include:

$1,500 Tax Credit

The IRS homeowner energy credit has been extended for 2009. That means, homeowners that purchase a Fabral ENERGY STAR® certified metal roof from Jan. 1, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2009 will qualify for a tax credit of up to $1,500.

The homeowner energy credit is 30% of the material cost and applies to residential projects that use metal roofing that meets the ENERGY STAR® requirements, up to a $1,500 credit. Fabral Teams with Habitat for Humanity

By joining forces with ten local builders, Fabral and Carter Lumber were recently very fortunate to get involved with Habitat for Humanity. Fabral was proud to volunteer time and supplies so a metal roof could be installed on a Lansing, MI Habitat for Humanity house. Fabral Sales Manager, Don Popour, stated, "What a great project to get involved with. By working together, we can accomplish great things." Fabral was also able to provide an application demonstration and educate more people on the installation and many benefits of metal roofing.

Climaguard, a standing seam metal roof panel, was donated for the project - a panel that was designed to withstand the natural elements and protect a house for years to come.

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world.

Fabral at 40: Customer focus drives four decades of growth

This September, Fabral celebrates four decades of success. Many will credit the company's 40 years of innovation and growth for that longevity and for transforming Fabral into an industry-leading supplier of metal roofing and siding.

But ask Fabral's president Kit Emert, and he'll tell you the true foundation of the company's success: the customer.

"The true key to longevity in any business is to stay focused on the customer," Emert says. "We've lived by that philosophy for 40 years, and fortunately we've built a team capable of translating that philosophy into action."

That has created a mutual loyalty with Fabral's customer base. In fact, many Fabral customers have been using Fabral products for decades, while others have been with Fabral since the beginning - Fabral truly values its customer relationships.

To honor that loyalty, Fabral will use its 40th anniversary to stage a yearlong "thank you" for its customers. Soon, the company will release details about customer-appreciation activities that will be scheduled in the field, at Fabral locations and at industry trade-shows.

Much has changed since 1967, when Fabral opened a single, modest manufacturing facility. Fabral, part of the Euramax family of companies, has the competitive advantage of 17 manufacturing locations throughout the U.S. and an architectural specialty sheet metal company in Texax named CopperCraft.

It also offers customers one of the most extensive product lines available, including numerous roof and wall profile designs and a wide variety of popular finishes, colors and substrates.

While Fabral has developed a strong growth strategy, it did so solely to improve service to customers. In fact, many of the changes at Fabral over the years were a direct response to customer need for a wider array of products, faster delivery and greater geographic availability.
